2021 Annual General Meeting

The 2021 Milton Minor Baseball Association (MMBA aka BaseballMilton)  Administrative Year will end on October 31, 2021 and the 2022 MMBA Administrative Year will commence on November 1, 2021.  In preparation for this transition, our Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at 10:00 am via Zoom.

At this meeting Executive Positions (President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) will be available for nomination and election as well as sixteen director positions.

It should be noted that the current board has been understaffed throughout the 2021 Admin Year with only 16 out of the 21 available seats being filled. Moreover, 12 out of those 16 spots are held by non-parent members, ie 12 out of 16 board members do not have any kids actively playing with MMBA.  While non-parent board members, much like non-parent coaches, can be beneficial in their ability to be objective, they should not be the majority.

This is a call to all parents to consider getting more involved with our association and to consider joining the MMBA Board of Directors.  There are a number of roles on the board available to assist with including House League Management, Player Development, Rep Team Administration, Sponsorship Administration, Special Events (Photo Day, Champ Day), Social Media and Website Admin, and more!

Please register now for our Annual General Meeting, October 2, 2021 at 10:00 am. Even if you are not interested in a board position but are still interested in finding out what’s going on with BaseballMilton, you still absolutely welcome to attend! We will be sending out Zoom details a few days prior to the AGM.

If you have any questions about becoming a Board Member or if you would like to hear more about the available roles and time commitments, please contact us!

The strength of our organization is entirely dependent on the participation of volunteers.  Please consider helping out to ensure the viability of BaseballMilton into the 2022 season and beyond.

Step 1 This Friday!

Thank you all for your continued support and patience. With Step 1 starting on Friday, our House League, Rep, Select, and Elite seasons will soon be underway!

House League registration for Tyke (6U) to Midget (18U) is now closed and we are working on putting together the rosters and schedules as well as finalizing our coaches and volunteers. As soon as we are able to confirm that we have met our coaching and volunteer requirements, we will assign teams and get our kids practicing on the fields in limited capacity in accordance to Step 1 guidelines.

We are working hard to ensure that we are able to begin House League games upon Provincial declaration of Step 2! Please stay tuned here on our website as well as on our Facebook Page for more updates as they come available.

2021 Rally Cap Program Registration for T-Ball (4U/5U) and Grasshopper (6U) Age Groups Now Open!

Rally Cap Program Registration is now OPEN!

REGISTER NOW!

BaseballMilton is excited to roll out a new program this year for our T-Ball (4U/5U) and Grasshopper (6U) age groups this year. This program will focus on player/coach development with a higher emphasis on skill development versus playing full games.  This is a six week program using Baseball Canada’s Rally Cap Program

Goals for this program are:

  1. Create a fun environment in which children and adults are actively engaged together in the game of baseball.
  2. Develop fundamental motor skills, teach baseball skills, and basic rules to our players.
  3. Experience success with an emphasis on good sportsmanship.
  4. Promote increased self-esteem among Rally Cap children and adults.
  5. Recruiting and supporting new coaches and volunteers

This is a progressive program that we plan on integrating further with the rest of our House League Program in the coming years.

Registration for the 2021 Rally Cap is now open (as of Saturday May 29th)! Don’t wait until it is too late! Registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis. We have a predefined maximum number of spots per age group. Registration will close on June 30th. Registrations submitted after this date may be subject to an additional $25 late fee.

We are targeting a mid to late July start (pending provincial clearance).

T-Ball is tentatively scheduled to be played on Monday evenings and Grasshopper on Tuesday evenings, both starting at 6:15pm.

Please note, the number of volunteers that sign up will dictate the number of players we will be able to accommodate. We are looking for at least one volunteer for every six players.

Volunteer involvement is a critical piece to ensuring the safety of our players and our families. Thank you all for your continued support and continued patience. We are committed to providing your player with the best and safest baseball experience this summer.

2021 House League Registration Now OPEN for Tyke (7U) to Midget (18U)!

House League Registration is now OPEN!

REGISTER NOW!

Registration for the 2021 House League Season is now open (as of Saturday April 10th)! Don’t wait until it is too late! Registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis. We have a predefined maximum number of spots per age group. Registration will close on May 15th. Registrations submitted after this date may be subject to an additional $25 late fee.

We are planning for a 10 week season and are targeting a mid-June start (pending provincial clearance). Fees for 2021 have been reduced accordingly.

In accordance to provincial guidance, we will be required to create “bubbles” of 50 players each. This will allow for 3 to 4 teams within each bubble. Coaches and team volunteers, as well as umpires, are not counted within this bubble limit. Teams will only play teams within their own bubble for the duration of the season. There will be no cross overs to other bubbles. Some age groups will likely require multiple bubbles (e.g. Mosquito) and some age groups may need to be combined with others (e.g. Major Bantam and Midget).

Please note, the number of volunteers that sign up will dictate the number of teams we will be able to field this summer. We will require at least 3 volunteers for every team. This will include:

  • 1 Head Coach
  • 1 Assistant Coach
  • 1 Bench Coordinator/Volunteer (assists with managing coordinating players when they are off the field; this role is of particular importance as players will not be permitted to sit together in the dugout)
  • 1 Pitching Machine Coach (for Tyke and Rookie only)

Volunteer involvement is a critical piece to ensuring the safety of our players and our families. Thank you all for your continued support and continued patience. We are committed to providing your player with the best and safest baseball experience this summer.

2021 House League Registration Update for April 6th, 2021

Thank you to everyone that provided their feedback to our House League registration survey. Your insight has provided us with valuable information on how to best move forward for the 2021 House League season.

Tyke (7U) to Midget (18U)

Registration for the 2021 season, Tyke (7U) to Midget (18U) will open on Saturday April 10th at 9am. T-Ball (4 & 5 years old) and Grasshopper (6 years old)

Our approach to T-Ball and Grasshopper levels this year is to focus on developing baseball skills for players and coaches and having fun. With that said, managing safety through appropriate social distancing is our priority in this age group as it is with all of our age groups.  As such, our plan is to run two 4-week clinics over the summer.  We will be finalizing the details for these clinics over the next few weeks so please stay tuned for registration information. As with our older age groups, we will require support from volunteer parents to ensure success.

Thank you all for your continued support and continued patience. We are committed to providing your player with the best and safest baseball experience this summer.

2021 House League Registration Update

Please be advised that we will be sending out a survey later this week regarding House League in 2021. We are hopeful that we will be able to have a House League Season this year, albeit with a few protocols and restrictions in place. Please be sure to fill out this survey so we can make the most optimal decisions going forward! Thanks in advance for your support and patience.

Registration for Pre-Tryout Clinics Now Open

The 2019 Rep and Select season is coming to a close and tryouts for the 2020 Rep and Select will be starting soon.

For the second year in a row, BaseballMilton will be running Pre-Tryout Clinics for House League players who interested in trying out for Rep or Select for the 2020 season.  This is NOT a try out but rather an opportunity for your child to get some guidance and knowledge heading into a tryout.  Tryouts can be stressful and with these clinics, our intent is to prepare your player for the tryout experience and to instill the confidence that comes with preparation.  We will be running through a variety of drills that are typically run during tryouts.  These drills will be run by current Milton Rep and Select coaches.

Clinics:

Monday, August 19th – Minor Mosquito (2010 birth year)
Wednesday, August 21st – Major Rookie (2011 birth year)
Thursday, August 22nd – Minor Rookie (2012 birth year)
Monday, August 26th – Major Mosquito (2009 birth year)
Wednesday, August 28th – Peewee and Up (2008 birth year or earlier)

All clinics will run from 6pm to 8pm and will be hosted at Rotary Park.

The cost this year is just $5.  Spots are limited!
